“World Class Sustainable Palm Oil Producer”

The Royal Group’s crude palm oil mills are two units of palm crushing and oil extraction mills as well as palm kernel nut crushing and shell separator units. Royal Group’s palm oil mills complex is located 110 km from Pontianak, West Kalimantan Indonesia, within our plantation area and 400 metres from river Kapuas Jetty and oil terminal. Each mill has a capacity of extracting 30 tons per hour of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) extendable to 45 tons per hour, while palm kernel plant carries out fibre separation nut crushing and shell separation process at the rate of 6 tons per hour. We produce one of the finest crude palm oil (CPO) to meet our in house requirements; In addition we also sell crude palm oil to various industries.

On an average each mill processes 300-450 tons of palm fruit per day. The extracted crude palm oil (CPO) is pumped out to 8000 tons storage tanks in mills. The storage tanks are connected with 100 tons per hour pumping capacity through delivery pipes on the river bank Jetty oil terminal which is also owned by Royal Group. From the Jetty oil terminal Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is loaded on to Pontoon/Vessel of 2000-4000 tons capacity to reach main seaport of Pontianak in 14 hours.

From our own plantation and plasma schemes we do not allow harvesting of fruit from trees younger than 7 years whereas the fresh fruit bunches (FFB) weight is not less than 10 Kg.

The choicest selection of palm fruit on strongest criteria ensures best quality Crude Palm Oil (CPO) with least amount of Free Fatty Acid (FFA). The downstream selection and grading parameters of fresh fruit bunches to ensure quality of our end consumer products is lab tested at the Royal Palm Oil Mills. Empty fruit bunches from the mills are transported back to the palm plantation fields to be used as organic manure for fertilization. Royal Group believes in organic and natural way of growing food stuff.

The palm kernel processing and oil extraction mills use the natural fibre as fuel for electric generation and boiler operations. We do not believe in using fossil fuel for electric generation, due to environmental concerns. Nothing is wasted at Royal Group’s integrated systems. Even the sludge oil is purified and remaining nutrients are given back to the plantation soil for better fertility.

A palm oil mill produces crude palm oil and kernels, as primary products and biomass as secondary product. The CPO Mills Operation comprises of sterilization, stripping, digestion and pressing, clarification, purification, drying and storage. For the kernel line, there are steps such as nut/fibre separation, nut conditioning and cracking, cracked mixture separation, and kernel drying, storage.

The dried kernels are often sold to palm kernel crushers for extraction of crude palm kernel oil. In some integrated plants, kernel crushing facilities exist side by side at the same complex. This first step in the process is crucial to the final oil quality as well as the strip-ability of fruits. Sterilization inactivates the lipases in the fruits, and prevents build-up of free fatty acids (FFA). In addition, steam sterilization of the FFBs facilitates fruits being stripped from the bunches. It also softens the fruit mesocarp for digestion and release of oil, and conditioning of nuts to minimize kernel breakage and it shall reach the age of optimal productivity in next two years, this will give us a quantum leap forward in crude palm oil production.
