Royal Industries Indonesia on its venture to diversify its business has made capital investment in the Electrolytic Tin Plating Factories.RII Metal Electrolytic Tin Plate Factories are situated at Surya Cipta Industrial Estate, Karawang, Indonesia. The machineries and technologies are from Techint ITAM, a US based company with the production capacity of 125,000 tons per annum. Additionally electrolytic tin printing machines are also imported from UK with the printing capacity of 100 containers per day and tin canning production machines are imported from Taiwan with production capacity of 150 containers a day. Tin-plated steel or tinplate, is made from the surface of the steel sheet plated with a very thin layer of pure tin by electrochemical way, and is the main material of food cans, beer cap, oil, industrial packaging. So far, the countries all over the world have used tinplate as the most important packaging materials of the canned food industry.

The tinning coil of strip as raw materials stored in the raw material storage is hoisted by the crane in the workshop to the saddle for coil of strip in the entrance of the tinning workshop and then transported to the uncoiler by cart for uncoiling processing. When going through the entrance to cut off the head, the tinning coil of strip is then welded with the bottom of the previous coil of strip before entering the welder. Then, the strip steel enters the looping tower and enters the pre-processing equipment for alkali wash and acidic wash to remove the oil and oxide adhesives on the surface of steel.





Pre-processing refers to the chemical washing in alkali sink for initial derosination, followed by entering the electrolytic cleaning tank for derosination and cleaning; after that, the strip steel enters the spraying tank for immersion washing and spraying with high-temperature water to remove the remaining aqueous solution; then put the strip steel in the acidic tank to clean the it with the chemical action of vitriol and electrolytic action of plate electrode; then put the strip steel in the spraying tank to be washed with high-temperature water to remove the sulfate ion on the steel surface. After the pre-processing, the strip steel is put in the electroplating sink for tinning. The electroplating sink uses soluble anode, with tin ions supplemented continuously by tin dissolving device. After tinning, the strip steel enters the soft melting section, with resistance heating above the melting temperature of tin and hardening to obtain the shining tinned surface. When the strip steel comes out of the soft melting section, it enters the post-processing device, where it is covered with chromium oxide after chemical processing. Followed by the chemical treatment, the strip steel is oiled with electrostatic oil machine and enters the looping tower at the entrance, after which the strip steel is divided at the entrance and coiled by the recoiling machine. The coil of strip on the recoiling machine is unloaded to the saddle at the entrance by the cart and hoisted to the finished products’ warehouse for packaging and storage.
